About Love Shack Libations
My name is Dave Paul, and I love beer. I grew up on a dairy farm in Ontario (moo) and after two years of music theatre school (jazz hands), I moved to Whistler in 1991 (beer). It was in Whistler that I cultivated my passions in life: skiing, mountain biking, and serving people good beer & decadent wine. It was in Whistler where I met my perfect partner, Rachel, while slinging beer at the bar. We married on that same bar's patio and, shortly after our daughter Morgan was born in 2004, we moved to Qualicum Beach, BC. For the first six weeks after our move, we lived in a tent while I built a 12x16 foot tiny home, lovingly anointed as The Love Shack. Eventually, I raised the roof on a slightly larger home for my growing family of 3 humans, 2 cats, and 12 chickens. The Love Shack retired to the leisure role of the guest cabin and hobby brewery. It was in The Love Shack that I started brewing my own beer, and haven’t stopped since. Last year my family and I took the plunge into the sweet barley nectar of a start-up brewery and moved my little hobby into a business on Island Highway. It is in The Love Shack, and now our newly opened nano-brewery location, where I experience the abundance of love that expands in the small spaces I find myself lucky enough to create (brew/ label/ chill/ taste) in.
